Raphael Zhu
Raphael is a tuba student in the Juilliard Music Advancement program. He started playing the piano when he was 4. He picked up tuba in 5th grade from the school band and immediately fell in love with the instrument. Under Ms. Larissa Korkina he continued to study both piano and tuba. With Ms. Korkina as his accompanist and trainer and Mr. Roger Prieto as his brass teacher, his pursuit of tuba learning led him on an exciting journey. He joined the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's Young Musicians Debut Orchestra in 7th grade, and the following year he auditioned for Juilliard's Music Advancement Program and was accepted. In Juilliard Raphael currently studies with Mr. Kyle Turner.
